NEW IN-SCHOOL CPD OPTIONS FOR 2012-2013: Have an Education Conference in your own school!
Many teachers go to national educational conference events, such as the TES Education events and the NEC Education Show, to attend two or three seminars on different topics.
Dr Mark has delivered many well-reviewed short seminars at such events since 2001, and continues to do so. In fact, you can read what TES say about Dr Mark’s seminars in a testimonial letter (click TSL) for more information).
Inspired by his experience of and contributions to these and other national conference events, from January 2012, Dr Mark will be teaming up with his wife Nikki to offer a range of ‘PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT’ seminars you can have in your own school, choosing two or three seminars in one school-length day, or one or two in a half day, as well as shorter seminar versions of Dr Mark’s current maths and science CPD options.
Below is what is on offer:
GETTING THE VERY BEST OUT OF YOUR TEAM
The most productive, effective, healthy and happy teachers can manage the high levels of stress inherent in teaching, maintain energy and well-being, and keep motivated to work towards their goals. Giving you the very best research-proven tools, techniques and tips, our CPD topic options are designed to address some of the most important factors that significantly influence the performance of each of your team and therefore the overall performance of your school.
You can choose from the following four options:
If life wasn't stressful enough, teaching is by any standard one of the most stressful professions. Unmanaged stress has adverse effects on a teacher's performance and stress-related illness is responsible for a very high proportion of staff absenteeism. This course pinpoints the causes, symptoms and consequences of stress, and, most importantly, provides your team with the very best practical cognitive and behavioural stress-busting tools, techniques and tips on how to effectively manage the numerous pressures of school and home-life, including time and workload, thereby managing stress proactively.
Effective teachers need high-levels of energy, drive and enthusiasm, along with a sense of physical, emotional and mental well-being. Based on the latest cognitive and behavioural research, you and your team will learn how to maximise your energy, drive, enthusiasm and sense of well-being at school and at home. You will learn a range of practical and effective tools, techniques and tips including how to: create the right work-home environment and social network; have a balanced diet; improve your sleep; relax properly; exercise effectively; and maintain a positive mental attitude - all ingredients of a vibrant, happy and healthy life.
Maintaining motivation and goal achievement are vital parts of effective, successful and 'happy' living, in and out of school. Nothing is ever purposefully achieved without first setting a goal and working towards its achievement. The problem is, most people do not know the scientifically-proven tools and techniques for staying motivated and reaching their goals. So you and your team will learn the most effective cognitive and behavioural tools, techniques and tips for selecting, moving towards, achieving and maintaining goals in all areas of life - including school-life - to help you live a fulfilling life healthy, happy and wise!
Coaching and mentoring is concerned with enabling people with their learning and development, and improving their performance. It is about helping another to create their future. It is achieved through mutual respect, support, challenge and encouragement between the people involved. It brings mutual and tangible professional benefits to ALL involved, including improved levels of performance, knowledge, skills, leadership, commitment, confidence and motivation. In this course you and your staff will learn effective tools, techniques and tips for effective coaching and mentoring within the team.
